Garlic Jester Minion is a new minion added in patch 2.3 for Final Fantasy XIV. This minion is a fun and quirky addition to the game, and can be a lot of fun to play with. Here are some tips on how to get him:

  1. First, you’ll need to find the Garlic Jester Minion quest in the game. This quest can be found in the Dalamud area of the game, and requires you to defeat a number of enemies while wearing a jester outfit. Once you’ve completed this quest, the Garlic Jester Minion will be yours!
  2. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of completing a quest, you can also purchase him from the auction house. He’s usually priced at around 1 million gil, so it may cost you a bit extra to get him but he’s definitely worth it!
  3. Finally, if all else fails, you can always try farming him - he’s not that difficult to find if you know where to look! ..

The seeds themselves are only available through Cross-breeding other types of seeds (specifically Garlic Cloves & Mandrake).

In FFXIV, cross-breeding is when you plant two types of seeds next to each other in a Housing Garden plot. The seeds then have a chance to produce offspring – in this case ideally the offspring will be your Garlic Jester seeds.

Getting Your Garlic Jester

You’ll need a few things to get yourself started.

First, you’ll need access to a gardening plot. These are available to any Player or Free Company with Housing.

Housing Merchants will sell you the Gardening Plots necessary to plant seeds. They’re available at the following locations:

The Lavender Beds, X:11 Y:8 The Goblet, X:11 Y:8 The Mist, X:11 Y:11 Shirogane, X:10 Y:12

The Plots come in three sizes – Round, Oblong and Deluxe.

Each can respectively hold 4, 6 and 8 seeds.

The size you choose doesn’t matter here, but the more slots available, the more seeds you can plant. This increases your shot at cross-breeding.

Once you’ve settled on your plot, you’ll need to obtain some soil and your seeds.

The Soil you’ll specifically want here is Grade 3 Thanalan Topsoil. This type specifically enhances the odds that your plants will cross. Meaning this is the go-to when trying to obtain special seeds.

You can obtain it one of two ways:

Level 50 Quarrying – Western Thanalan, X:18 Y:27, 5 AM Eorzean Time. Bertana (Idyllshire, X:6 Y:5) sells this for one Unidentifiable Ore, which you can receive from various Heavensward Beast Tribes.

Once you’ve got your Soil, you’ll need the seeds themselves.

There is only one cross-breed that will yield the Garlic Jester Seeds: Garlic Cloves & Mandrake.

Mandrake Seeds are harvested from Eastern La Noscea, X:27 Y:29 Garlic Cloves are harvested from Western Thanalan – Nophica’s Wells, X:23 Y:24

Tip: The seeds may not show up on the Nodes immediately. Run between the others in the area to refresh them until they appear.

It’s important when you plant these seeds that you alternate them. Meaning one then the other in order.

Two of the same seeds won’t produce the results you want, so keep them apart!

With a bit of luck, these will yield you the Garlic Jester Seeds.

From there you’ll need to plant your new seeds and wait for your Minion to sprout.

The soil you use here doesn’t matter, because any will produce a single Minion. After about a day or so, you’ll be the proud owner of your very own Garlic Jester.
