LinkedIn is a great platform for networking and building relationships with potential employers. However, if you want to make the most of your connections on LinkedIn, you need to change your profile URL. Here are four tips to help you do just that:

  1. Set up a Profile Settings page on your LinkedIn profile. This page will allow you to control all of the settings associated with your profile, including the URL of your LinkedIn profile.
  2. Use keywords in your profile title and description. This will help people find your profile more easily and make it more likely that they’ll click through to see all of the content that’s available on your page.
  3. Use keywords in your job title and company name. This will help people find out more about what you do for a living and which companies might be interested in working with you.
  4. Use keyword tags in your profile so that people can easily find specific topics or posts related to what you’re doing as a professional individual or as part of a team (for example, “LinkedIn Profile Tips for Startups”).

Your LinkedIn profile‘s web address (URL) is customizable, which means you can set it to whatever you want. Here’s how to go about changing your profile URL on LinkedIn on desktop and mobile.

What to Know When Changing Your LinkedIn URL

When you change your URL, it will always start with the following:

After the in/ is where your custom URL will appear. The new URL must have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 300 characters. You can’t use spaces, symbols, or special characters in your URL.

You’ll likely want to change it to your name in some fashion. Keep in mind, though, that your profile URL is not case-sensitive, which means both “MaheshMakvana” and “maheshmakvana” are the same.

While changing the URL, keep in mind that you can only do that five times in a six months period.

Change Your LinkedIn Profile URL on Desktop

On a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, use the LinkedIn site to customize your profile URL.

To do so, launch a web browser on your computer and open LinkedIn. Sign in to your account on the site, if you are not already.

In LinkedIn’s top-right corner, click Me > View Profile.

On the right sidebar, at the top, click “Edit Public Profile & URL.”

Again, at the top of the right sidebar, in the “Edit Your Custom URL” section, click “Edit” (a pencil icon).

Your profile URL is now editable. Clear the existing URL, type the new URL of your choice, and click “Save.”

And your LinkedIn profile URL has been successfully changed. People will now need to use the new URL to access your profile. Be sure to update your other social media with your new link.

If you’d like to revert back to the previous URL, you can do so using the same steps as above.
